Community Singing Group & Breathing-Stretching Drop-Ins
We will be piloting two Social Recreational evening Programs starting at the end of March.
Monday nights: Breathing and Stretching (Yoga) classes
Thursday nights: Community Singing Group
Both are a drop-in model to reduce barriers to participation. All ages and levels welcome. See attached flyers for details and to share.
In 2018, DPNCHC conducted a Community Needs Assessment and the participants across all ages, backgrounds and locations consistently rated 2 common ideas around their sense of community and sense of belonging: they value these significantly, and want more opportunities to develop community networks and find more places to connect with their neighbours. The findings also show a service need gap for more social/recreational programs that are low/no cost and available outside traditional work hours.
Following these findings, these 2 pilot programs will allow us to test out and see if this type of program resonates with community members, and to get feedback to help us determine what might work in future. It will also help to animate the Centre in the evenings!
